The Ambassadors of St. Peter Guilde is a group of historic Renaissance actors whose purpose is to bring Renaissance history to Southern California in a fun, festive, and educational way. We provide an accepting and positive environment for members to develop their characters and acting skills through historic re-enactments.
Our fundamental philosophy allows for each actor to not only conduct a historical background search of their chosen historical individual; but we also encourage each player to enhance their characterization by adding a personal flair to each role.
At each presentation we provide the audience with a fun-filled performance, while educating them about the life and times of the Renaissance period. This education includes a Sunday Catholic Church Service at Noon.

We are a group of actors and other performers dedicated to one mission: making the faire fun for everyone. We don't have a large guild site, using it only to recuperate during the course of the event, and thus spend the vast majority of our time out among the patrons, interacting with them in a variety of ways. Welcome one and all, to the Porker's Sterne. An infamous dockside tavern, populated by all manor of outlaws, rogues, and miscreants. The most notorious of all being, of course, The Brotherhood Of The Black Flag.
From the dark and mysterious glens of the Scottish highlands to the dangerous sea inlets of the Caribbean Islands, whether roving plunderer or a Barbary corsair, these members of the B.B.F. have found a home at the Porker's Sterne.
A place where you can enjoy the serene live music from a table full of musicians playing a large selection from lilting Irish melodies to rowdy drinking songs. A place where patrons may break into uncanny melees of outstanding swordsmanship at any given time. A place where all manner of characters, some of world renown repute, others of the highest refinements, and others..well...not so much, come to congregate.
And the wenches. Ah, don't forget the fine collection of bawdy and buxom wenches...

Let us invite you to take a step back in time and see what REAL events took place both outside and inside a medieval tavern with the marvelous recreations The Brotherhood of the Bottle portrays!
Watch as Wenches, Tavern boys, Inn Keepers, Wagerers, Pirates, Peasants, Middle Class, Noblemen, Singers, Dancers, 'almost' Puritans, the shire Sheriff - all types of people from all walks of life entertain you.
But most important of all, as a guild, we all work together!
We do a ton of improv, love street gigging, and do hand-to-hand combat, live steel and Shanai demonstrations. Watch your purse as there's also a chance you might be persuaded into playing a game of chance or tossing some Horseshoes!
We don't follow a strict script or have a stage show per se, but, don't be surprised if we break out in song - or even a comedic shtick! We are open to any group involvement as in gaming, scavenger hunts, etc. If it's a specific gig you need, just let us know and we'll do it for you! We're that good!!!
We love comedy and enjoy interacting with patrons both within and outside our encampment! We also endeavor to interact with other guilds within the Faire.
Our guild site structure is a realistic type, period looking Tudor style Tavern with a shingled roof, tables, benches and everything else that goes along with it - and fits in a 45' x 50' area!
So, once again, be prepared to step back and have a GREAT time watching the goings on inside the Maiden's Head Inn.

We portray a fifteenth/sixteenth Century Scottish Highland band of Mercenaries. Due to the constant conflicts, many of our people in power were either killed, or "deported" from Scotland's borders. We're an English styled court. Through much comedy (and, when needed, some seriousness), we mediate disputes between patrons, guilds, Rennies, and anyone else who is seeking justice, which is often served cold and swift, with an occasional, "naughty, naughty, naughty." We are an extremely interactive guild, and greatly involve fair patrons in our shenanigans. Our bailiffs are made up of peasants, the most beautiful of wenches, Scots, Irishmen, Englishmen, upper-middle class, and others wishing to see justice served in the shire.

Background of the guild; Diamond Rose Academie aka Huguenot.
Huguenots is the name given to people who practiced a particular kind of Protestantism in France which was aligned with the theology of John Calvin. The Huguenots, as a class, were the bone and sinew of France. The nobility were wealthy, the merchants and manufacturers prosperous, and the poorer classes sober and industrious. Since the Huguenots of France were in large part artisans, craftsmen, and professional people, they were usually well-received in the countries to which they fled for refuge when religious discrimination or overt persecution caused them to leave France.
Huguenot refugees had lived in London since the reign of Henry VIII as far back as 1550, in conjunction with Dutch Protestants. Their character and talents in the arts, sciences, and industry were such that they are generally felt to have been a substantial loss to the French society from which they had been forced to withdraw, and a corresponding gain to the communities and nations into which they settled.
The First French Protestant Church of London was founded on July 24, 1550, when English King, Edward VI, granted a charter to Protestant refugees led by Polish cleric, Jean a Lasco. The charter granted the freedom of individualized worship at the Temple of Jesus -- Austin Friars in the City of London.

The Earl of Stamford's Regiment of Foote is a member of the ECWSA - English Civil War Society of America. We do a very accurate impression of an English Military unit of the period, complete with wool uniforms, matchlock muskets, small artillery, pikes and halberds, etc. Earlier period events also work well for us as our kit is quite close to late 16th Century standards, as are our weapons and encampment.
We are the core of the Cardiff Rose Swordsmen Guild with a few additions, and are one of the few groups with black powder event insurance through the ECWSA.

I handcraft fantastic and whimsical faery chairs, thrones, chaises and carrages using crystal, mineral, shell and sea fans, driftwood, the list goes on. The chairs are elegant, with semi precious stones and fine detail. My works carry references to celtic and art nouveau design elements, and each one is wonderously unique. Very organic. My work sells very well in the shops and galleries that carry them. Among the many of its treasures that Ireland has shared with the world, are several beloved breeds of dogs. Among them are four beguiling terriers and perhaps least known of them is the Glen of Imaal Terrier. It has been described variously as a rough-and-ready Sealyham, a miniature Irish Wolfhound, or a Soft Coated Wheaten on short legs, etc. While these descriptions might allude to an aspect of the Glen of Imaal’s profile, they ultimately miss the point. The Glen isn’t a rough-and-ready or miniature anything. It predates many of the breeds to which it is likened and is a truly unique and remarkable creature beloved by most everyone fortunate enough to come into contact with one.

Play with the patrons, obviously. As a part of faire, we are there to make the customers smile and laugh. Street skits would be a wonderful way of doing this, being out there with the people, and pulling them into whatever mischief we may be creating. Play with other participants.

*****YOU ARE IN THE COMPANY OF COURTESANS! The courtesan was one of the most accomplished women of her time. She was well-read, well-educated, and well-mannered at a time when most women could do no more than read a Psaltary and bear children. We have poetry readings, hold bocci ball tourneys, courtesan serenades, gaming, ladies available to preside over festive events and resolve political debates between argumentative kings.
These women were dinner companions, entertainers, singers, poets, and lovers to some of the most prominent men of the period. They were trained in many arts, only one being the art of love. They held parties, and made more than one lord envious of the current patron. A courtesan was an attainable dream. She exhumed charm, lust, and opulence. Men came to her to experience the fantasy of love and knowledge their wives could not supply them with. They presented her with gifts, and she, in turn, would consider their proposals. They held power when women were allowed none. Any one or even in numbers, the ladies, with permission .. are allowed to preside over events or attend events as guest of honor. www.clanhottie.com

Welcome to My Ladye's Stillroom, also known as THE PEANUT GALLERY. We are maids from a noble house who prepare medicinal, cosmetic, and other concoctions necessary for the household. The Stillroom Maids are traveling to town for supplies, and are most pleased to discover that The Royal Court, is there on Progression! A tedious market trip has now become a chance to glimpse Britain's greatest monarch and enjoy a faire. Look for these maids as they joyfully weave their way through the shops and shows, leaving fun and mischief in their wake. Or perhaps you might find them playing with the local children or singing while working on simple crafts. Stop and give them a hearty 'Good Morrow!",they might even let you in on some of the juicy gossip about the shire!

Clothing reveals a remarkable picture of the daily lives, beliefs, expectations and hopes of those who lived in the past. Language of clothing speaks of status, occupation, aesthetics, social cohesiveness, prosperity and a host of other meanings, subtle and overt.
Needle's Eye, set up as a period tailor shop, is comprised of quality Tailors and Semstresses who spent years researching the history and construction of clothes and needle arts such as lace making, embroidery, blackwork, through the centuries. Now we share our knowledge with patrons of the events circuit through lectures, presentations and gigs at faire.

We portray and Ottoman Turkish trading caravan of the mid-1500's. During the Renaissance, for our purposes 1520 - 1600, trade was happening either through walking caravans traveling from city to city or by merchant ship. Our caravan travels established trade routes starting in Constantinople and traveling "around the known world". We are primarily a Trading Caravan and represent the several different classes: merchant traders, entertainers, fighting men, slaves, and thieves, that would have joined on caravan. We have an established stage show that includes mid-eastern music and dancing, and also teach the public in our encampment.

All Pictland members embraced a single mission; as a Living-History Guild we would display accuracy & truth to the best of our knowledge. This we owe not only to our ancestors, but to every visitor paying good money at the gate; especially those seeking knowledge of ancestry in that dimmer time before the Scottish clans.
Our era is 50 BC-700 AD. The encampment groupe represents the powerful Highland Caledonii Tribe of Northern Scotland (c.367AD), and it's royal center in the Great Glen. Its a time when pitch smeared trees were set ablaze on mountain tops, signalling a united war-hosting to the lesser tribes. Thier goal? To attack, destroy, and expell the Roman menace from sacred Caledonia in one finale savage battle. We welcome "all" who wish to represent Pictish-Caledonians, Briton, Gaulish, Irish, or any ancient European tribe. Also included are Living history Exhibits of everyday life such as clothing, a thatch and reed roundhouse-broch, carved Pictish standing stones; art, weapons-training,Picto-body painting, and the mystical matriarchial socio-polictical structure...YES, THEIR WERE FEMALES WHO GOVERNED AND LED TRIBES! AND THEY FOUGHT IN BATTLE!!

We are The Sacramento Historical Maritime Educational Organization, Inc.
A 501(c)(3) Educational Non-profit Organization
Our stage name is the "Privateers of the Dauntless" we setup an encampment that represents the Armed Merchant Ship "Dauntless" and its dock, an elevated stage with barrels, crates, bails, sacks, etc, as cargo. Behind this dock is our full main mast, complete with rat lines, two yardarms and sails, 16 inch in diameter and 45 ft. in height,. The mast is workable aloft to the first yardarm. Along with this, we setup educational props of a bell stand, full helm, firing "prop" swivel cannons, and a 4.5’ Deck cannon/carriage replica. We also carry and demonstrate various navigational tools such as the back staff, sandglass, traverse board, binical, logline and lead line. Each season we add more and more detail to enhance the representation and educational abilities. Our daily routine is intended give the illusion of a full ship with crew. Shifting of watches going aloft to the crow’s nest, bell sounding the time, cargo moving, commands barking out. Our sailors will be tending to their duties mending sails and lines, the carpenters making repairs and the purser conducting trade from the dock of our cargo. Our group is VERY patron interactive and particularly child friendly, this is our primary focus. We also endeavor to play and interact with the court and other guilds in order to acquire favor, gaining information, trade, and to gain a letter of reprisal (marque) or to settle the crowns portion of the spoils. We interact with the patrons by teaching and demonstrating maritime skills and history as well as full on performances with live steel duels, ships navigation, and other maritime skills. Between performances, we have an open encampment and invite
patrons and children to come aboard and look around. We specifically lean away
from the typical 1700 "pirate" persona and aspire to be more of a legitimate
16th century armed merchant. We are a theatrical troupe, developing song, in the form of shanties, gigs, and live steel duels. We provide educational interaction and pre-event educational materials. (See our web site for more educational information). We do ask for a fee/donation for our performance, which is set well below market for similar performances and is used for
logistics/transportation costs, liability coverage, prop maintenance and new
prop acquisition. All of the performers are volunteers; none of the performing
troupe is compensated for their performances.

We portray village common folk, including craftsmen, fishmongers and washing women. Our storyline is that the majority of the guild has traveled to any particular region or faire hailing from a border town near the western coast at the southernmost part of Scotland or northernmost part of England. The idea behind the guild storyline is that we are displaced villagers after the majority of our homes and village was razed by fire, either by accident (argument ensues - "it was the smithy", "no it was the kiln!) or by writ of fire and sword. This storyline and our characters may vary from faire to faire to what is most appropriate for nationality or how we became displaced. Craftspersons in the guild exist for pottery, woodworking, smithy and leathercraft in addition to experienced members in storytelling and period games.

We are a historical re-enactment group that performs at Renaissance Faires and other events along the West Coast and beyond. We portray an ambassadorial entourage from the Medici Court in Florence sent to call upon the Courts of Elizabeth and Mary as they travel throughout their own countryside in an attempt to avoid London's summer bouts of the Plague.
From our encampment we wait until Her Majesty has time to have an audience and in the interim we spend our days haggling with the local merchants in working out new trade agreements, drilling our troops should the need arise for a military action, receiving and sending dispatches, and holding court - and in short, trying to make the best of being so far from home.
In addition to entertaining the faire's audience, we also seek to educate, both though continual improvisational theater directed both at other performers as well as towards any patron who would care to join in the play, and through activities such as period weapons instruction, blackwork, music, painting, and much more.

Some of the most accomplished swordsmen in England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth could be found in a place called the Blackfriars.
Once a Dominican monastery, the estates of the priory came to be commonly known as "Blackfriars" due to the black vestments of the Dominican monks. The friars had gained permission from the London City authorities to have the whole of the Blackfriars precinct be named a "liberty", and therefore outside City jurisdiction, even though within the City walls.
In the Blackfriars many swordsman found the freedom to practice swordsmanship outside the regulations set down by the London masters of defence. It was quite common to see Italian, German or Spanish styles of swordplay being practiced in the Blackfriars along with traditional English swordsmanship.
Because of the renown of the swordsmen who frequent the Blackfriars, the Queen has tasked them with the responsibility of testing the capabilities of England’s militia and introducing the militia to the latest fighting techniques and weapons forms. Thus was born “The Trayn’d Bande of the Blackfriars”.
During the course of testing the Blackfriars can be seen using such weapons forms as;
sword and buckler (a common battlefield combination),
rapier and dagger (common with civil attire),
and maybe even longsword.

This guild is representing the people from Ilse of Mann and all the ships that sailed the isle time during the time of Queen Elizabeth. Many have sailed the seas and landed on this wee bit of land. We wish all that pass our shores to see it's people, their crafts and song.

Troupe Mayyadah presents life in a nomadic middle eastern encampment full of tribal belly dancers, wayward merchants and musicians who have banded together throughout our travels. We offer stage performances as well as dancing, music & interaction with the public in our encampment throughout the day. We will post set times that we will perform in our encampment but if there is a gathering of people, we always get up & dance for them in between shows. We have trinkets & treasures we bestow upon the children. We have a collection of 4 tents and a primitive shade tarpuline that we put up, along with rugs, pillows, wooden furniture that we have barter or bought along our wanderings, So we look like a camp of many families that has stopped for the weekend to camp, play music, dance and make merriment.

We portray 16th century Northern Ireland band of Ulster Ui Niall Ceathairne, Mac Aoidh Galloglaigh, and Ban Bruthainneach. Our Irish Lord “The Ui Niall”, is accompanied by his most trusted kin and men at arms to keep him safe on his travels. As a Tuath we feel proud & privileged to portray such a unique & beautiful people, culture, and country. We strive to portray thru our “living history” a true sense of unwavering Irish pride, and continuous fight for personal & religious freedoms of this renaissance period.
